When my father was terminally ill with Cancer, I remember speaking with him about the children who were also receiving chemo in the same hospital he was staying in. He said, “If you think I have it bad, imagine those kids downstairs.”
Literally 2 weeks before he passed he gave me some money and the encouragement to rally my troops, my friends and family, to celebrate a birthday party for those kids he had seen through the windows as he made his rounds, having also been cooped up and limited to a hospital room for weeks. I will never forget the smiles, the laughter and the tears.
I cherish that moment with Dad dearly and having my own children now, cannot even imagine them going through this disease. You can help change the outcome for these children. The Arms Wide Open Childhood Cancer Foundation is making powerful strides in this field and you can support this cause, make some children (and parents) smile and fund a cure. https://www.facebook.com/events/206101882847519/
