People Are often Unreasonable, Irrational, and Self-centered. Forgive Them Anyway.

I sit here today on Sunday…a day meant for reflection, time with loved ones, relaxation…hell even mindless shopping.

I can’t help but ignore the news. Holy war is happening. Ok, so…like as I am getting what I consider to be a much needed manicure, children are being beheaded for no other reason than for believing in a different God.

Have we learned nothing from our past? Have we become numb to old wounds of war that are meant to heal us and make us stronger?

Has our lust for power cornered us into the disillusion that coexistence of whoever/whatever doesn’t abide by our belief system should be abolished? What?

Wait, WHAT?

All week I’ve been watching the news. I’ve turned to my husband every night with one question: It’s 2014, is this really happening?

What/whoever your God is… are you really aware that God only knows love? Love does not own or control, it just is.

We were put on this earth to do the best we can with what is available to us…it is all borrowed, and when we pass, someone else will make use of what is left to the best of their ability.

I prayed hard this morning, really hard for LOVE. I remembered these lines by Mother Teresa and wanted to share them with you.

People are often unreasonable, irrational, and self-centered.  Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives.  Be kind anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some unfaithful friends and some genuine enemies. Succeed anyway.

If you are honest and sincere people may deceive you.  Be honest and sincere anyway.

What you spend years creating, others could destroy overnight.  Create anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness, some may be jealous.  Be happy anyway.

The good you do today, will often be forgotten.  Do good anyway.

Give the best you have, and it will never be enough.  Give your best anyway.

In the final analysis, it is between you and God.  It was never between you and them anyway.

-Mother Teresa
