A Panel of Mental Healthcare Professionals Weigh in on Coping with Postpartum Depression
I’ve been blogging for almost 11 years. If you’ve been following along, you’ll know that the reason I started blogging was because it served me as an outlet to cope with postpartum depression after having my first son.
Through the years, I’ve become very vocal about mental health. Maternal mental health especially. I believe that the more open we are and honest about this process, the more we can help each other. Motherhood is hard AF, but as our panelist explain, it doesn’t have to be.
I am passionate about connecting women to other awesome people and to the resources that simply make it easier for us to do the hard work we do.
I asked Geraldine “Gerry” Viggiani (Lotus Blossom Psychotherapy), Dr. Julie Davelman (Abrams Psychological Services), and Hilary Sheer (The Empowerment Center of New Jersey) to join me on this very powerful and honest conversation about coping with the challenges that come from becoming a mom, managing expectations, and what we can do to take action and move forward.
The support and encouragement from other strong, beautiful women in my life, was how I was able to flip the funk at a very dark time in my life. I was able to learn that I am capable of handling more than I ever thought myself capable of.
If you’re struggling, please know that there is help available. I hope you find comfort in our stories, their advice and reach out should you need to speak to someone. They are right here in our community:
