FABER UNA Founder Brett Torrey Hanes, A Closer Look

handmade [ˌhændˈmeɪd]

adj (Clothing, Personal Arts & Crafts / Crafts) made by hand, not by machine, esp with care or craftsmanship.

Faberuna searches the web for the best handmade goods from all around the world.

We’ve had the honor of being featured on this site on several occasions and understood that to continue to showcase the amazing work of many artisans from around the globe, efforts like the ones Brett has made with his site, need to be continuously represented.

Here is what Brett had to say:

enV: What sparked the idea for Faber Una? What does “Faber Una” mean?

Brett: Faber Una means ‘Artisans Together’ in Latin. I wanted a site where handmade artisans could feature their wares. We hope to inspire people to buy something handmade at least once a month.

enV: What barriers do you think are presented to handmade artists presently? In your opinion, what can an artist do to overcome them?

Brett:One barrier is a lack of a unified forum. One way it could be overcome is to create a network where local handmade artisans could band together and present their goods to the public
We hope to start one very soon, using independent
coffeehouses and bookstores as venues.

enV: What is your ultimate vision for this community?

Brett:I want people to think handmade 1st before buying mass produced stuff.

enV: Who is behind the Faber Una team?

Brett: Believe it or not, it’s just me. (that’s a song,
isn’t it?)
Whether you are a handmade lover, artist or passer by, visit Faber Una and take a peek at the world showcasing its hidden creatives. Hopefully, it will encourage you to think handmade first.
