On PIX 11: 5 Holiday Themed Home Decor Ideas So Easy, You’ll Want to DIY

Home for the holidays? ‘Tis the Season to bring the holiday cheer. Whether you do with the kids or solo, dive into these DIY home decor ideas that are so easy, they’ll also serve as little reminders to step into the spirit of the season.

1. Flower vases with a Holiday upgrade.

We all have more flower vases than we need. Fill them with holiday colored ornaments of different shapes and sizes and voila, you have a beautiful, eye catching center piece in no time.

2. Candy Cane Themed Centerpieces.

Another beautiful way to bring the holiday cheer to your decor is with these easy to make centerpieces. Wrap your flower vase with candy canes, holding them together with ribbon. Once dinner is over guests can also take a cane as a treat.

3. Festive Candles.

Using candles you already have at home, simply wrap holiday themed ribbon around it and finish with a bow. The candle’s glow combined with the holiday themed ribbon creates a beautiful eye catching focal point.

4. Deck the Walls or Halls.

1. Holiday Card Display. Wall/hallway decor is a simple yet beautiful way to create a festive ambience. This is also a great way to display your holiday cards. Take an old  frame or piece of wood and wrap with yarn. You can then hang cards as you receive them with clothespins. You can hang the frame on a wall or lean the wood against a wall or in a hallway corner.

2. Hanging wreaths. After you pick your color palettes, wrap ribbon around different sized embroidery hoops. You can finish with a bow or by gluing florals to one side and then hang on your wall or windows.

Keeping it real. I can’t share the blessing without the lesson

It’s been a very difficult few weeks + I’ve been struggling.

Worry. Emotional exhaustion. The body keeps score + it always wins.

My Faith being the thread that’s kept me mostly together, while waiting.

In life + biz, when you feel it in your gut, move without question.

This kiddo got incredible news today 💛 all I can say is that God is good, all the time.

Fun (+Free) Activities Before the Fall Season Rolls In 🍂

I am sharing 5 things to enjoy by yourself or with family + friends this weekend in NYC/NJ 📆

Listen up East Coast dwellers, even though summer is almost over, we all want to live our best life -without breaking the bank. Here are 5 things you can do before we head into the back to school craze in New York + New Jersey.

  1. With the Family – Little Island is a new public park at Pier 55 West of Manhattan where all New Yorkers and visitors can experience nature and art in a unique urban oasis on the Hudson River. VIDEO ATTACHED
  2. With a friend – The High Line first opened in 2009. Originally created entirely on an abandoned elevated train track, above the West Side neighborhoods. The views of the Hudson River and the downtown skyline are mesmerizing. The park hosts free star-gazing events, lively cultural happenings like latin dance nights and rotating works of sculpture and art throughout the year.
  3. For the Fashion Lover – The Museum at FIT showcases selections from the institute’s permanent collection, as well as temporary exhibitions focusing on individual designers and fashion’s role in society. The museum has a permanent collection of more than 50,000 garments and accessories dating from the eighteenth century  to the present.
  4. Picnic at Liberty State Park – Located directly on the shores of the Hudson River, Liberty State Park is also the only location in New Jersey with Ferry service to Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty. The park has wide open fields, miles of pathways and an outdoor performance area providing an inviting atmosphere for all types of recreation. Groups of 20+ need a reservation + permit.
  5. For everyonethe Seaside Heights Boardwalk. Kids can enjoy the many boardwalk rides + there are a number of great restaurants and young adults will love the nightlife scene. You can still get a Beach day pass at $10 p/adult and kids under 11 are free.
